These days, you can’t barely glance around the supermarket without seeing a new “all-natural” health food company. And that has to be a good thing, right? The growing abundance of healthy and diet-conscious foods in the mainstream market gives you, the consumer, a wider and more beneficial range of choices… right?
As it turns out, the answer is a bit more complicated than that. The last ten years has indeed seen the rise of smaller, visionary companies who built their reputation on making the healthiest food they could. However, this growth has also led many less-principled companies to “cash in” on the popularity of the health food market, masquerading as healthy companies while using the same ingredients found in unhealthy foods.
How can you tell them apart? As we have always said, the answer lies on the label. Fortunately, the USDA has very strict labeling laws that allow you to know at a glance what your food contains. The problem is, you need to know your terms. Some “healthy” buzzwords are unregulated, and therefore meaningless, so it is up to you to understand what to look for.
For example, the following terms can be used VERY loosely, so take a closer look at the ingredients if you see these bold claims on the package:
- “Natural”
- “Naturally Sweetened”
- “Fresh”
- “Wholesome”
- “Artisan”
- “Sugar Free”
The Best Hummus is a Healthy One!
At HOPE, we have built our reputation on creating the best hummus ever, by using the healthiest ingredients and processes we can find. And since we continually strive to stock your fridge with the best hummus in the world, we hate seeing people use deceptive practices to sneak impostors into your diet.
This is why, as we have said many times before, we make claims that are both verified and regulated by the USDA. Here are some of the terms you will see on our label:
USDA Certified Organic – Guaranteed to contain ingredients that have not been treated with GMOs, artificial additives or preservatives, or unhealthy pesticides or antibiotics.
Cold Pressure Processed – This revolutionary process of Cold Pressure Processing allows for food sterilization without subjecting it to high temperatures or chemical additions. By subjecting the food in-container to extremely high pressures, harmful bacteria are crushed while preserving the integrity of vitamins and minerals.
Extra Virgin – Olive oil designated as “extra virgin” is not treated by chemicals or altered by temperature. It is also unrefined, so it contains the highest percentage of its original ingredients.
Vegan – Containing no animal products or by-products. This means that we do not sneak in any unhealthy animal-based additives to alter our flavor or consistency.
Only the Best Ingredients in the Best Tasting Hummus
In addition to maintaining the highest standards of health, HOPE Hummus is also committed to crafting the best hummus flavors on the market. We believe that the use of premium-quality ingredients, along with innovative flavor ideas and recipes, results in a dip that surpasses all the rest. What do we mean?
Here are some of our favorite hummus recipes, all of which are made according to USDA best practices:
- Jalapeño Cilantro
- Thai Coconut Curry
- Lemon Peppercorn
- Kale Pesto
- Spicy Avocado
- Sriracha
- Black Garlic
Mouth-watering flavors like these, crafted according to the healthiest standards we could find, are what HOPE Hummus has built our reputation on. Our goal is not simply to make the best hummus flavors, but to make the best hummus ever.
So next time you’re wandering through the supermarket, don’t get suckered by “healthy” foods that are actually full of ingredients you can’t recognize or pronounce. By searching out foods that are certified organic, cold pressure processed, vegan, and containing extra virgin olive oil, you can make sure that your food not only tastes good, but nourishes your body as well.
We wish you the best, so we give you the best hummus. That’s what we mean when we say…
Cheers and happy eating!
