October is Non-GMO (non-genetically modified organism) Month: an annual month-long celebration to educate the public and spotlight Non-GMO Project Verified choices on shelves.
We participate each year to provide a platform for organizations and citizens like you to stand up for non-GMO choices in the food we eat and feed our families.
This year, we wanted to provide information on why non-GMO is so important, and highlight some of our friends who are also verified!
WHAT IS A GMO?
Genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are living organisms whose genetic material has been artificially manipulated through genetic engineering. This creates combinations of plant, animal, bacteria, and virus genes that do not occur in nature or through traditional crossbreeding methods.
GMOs are not required to be labelled in the US. In the absence of mandatory labeling, the Non-GMO Project was created to give consumers the informed choice.
IS HOPE NON-GMO?
YES! Each and every one of our products are Non-GMO Project Verified.
How can I participate in Non-GMO Month?
Find a Non-GMO Month Retailer near you.
Locate one of the stores across the US that are participating in Non-GMO Month this year. In addition to providing you with clear labeling, educational materials and savings on Verified products, these stores will also be providing non-GMO educational opportunities and special events!
Choose Non-GMO Project Verified products.
Look for the Non-GMO Project Verified butterfly seal on products. Try to swap out one GMO-risk product with a Verified one, or make every breakfast totally non-GMO! Choosing Non-GMO Project Verified products has a positive impact on the entire food supply chain. Together we can preserve and protect a safe, healthy non-GMO food supply for future generations!
